The Weird That Works

ADHD? Do the thing that feels weird

Most of what the ADHD brain does happens on autopilot. Once a week, I’ll send you a short reflection: a small nudge to catch yourself in the act, and an action you can consider.

Here’s something we don’t say enough: with ADHD, the strategies that actually work for you are going to be deeply personal, customized to your exact brain. And to everyone else, they might look a little… weird.

The trap is what happens next. You stumble onto something that genuinely works, but because it’s odd, or doesn’t look like how “normal people” are supposed to operate, we quietly drop it and go back to chasing the conventional, respectable method. The one that never actually works.

So today, give your weird its due.

Consider this week:

Try this: Take that one too-weird-to-embrace thing and let yourself actually use it this week. No apologizing, no “proper” version. Just the weird thing that works.

The reframe: If it works for your brain, it isn’t weird. It’s yours. The goal is not to be “normal”. The goal is to be you, and chasing “normal” has been quietly failing you this whole time.

These weekly reflections aren’t about doing more or fixing yourself. They’re a moment to slow things down and notice what’s actually going on. Because noticing is usually where the change starts.
